### What this is

Every package of meat, poultry or egg product inspected by the USDA carries an establishment number in its mark of inspection. This site resolves that number: which plant it is, where, what it is approved to do, how big it is by FSIS's own size class, and whether it slaughtered or processed in the last year.

### Who uses it

- **Buyers and importers** — which plant is behind this EST. number, and what is it approved for?
- **Suppliers and service companies** — the plants of one state, by size.
- **Consumers and journalists** — where a product was packed.

### What it is not

Not the USDA, and not a grant of inspection. Recalls, inspection results and enforcement are other FSIS records. Only active establishments are in the file.
